Find every any in a TypeScript repo. Then get rid of it.
parses a repository with the TypeScript compiler and lists each as any, : any, any[] and Record<string, any>, with a suggestion for the type it should have been. No regex guesses, no sign-up.
Public repositories only. Archives over 50 MB are refused; node_modules, dist and build folders are skipped. Results are kept for 30 days.
How it works
1. Fetch
The repository tarball is downloaded through the GitHub API at the ref you choose. Nothing is cloned and nothing is executed.
2. Parse
Every .ts, .tsx, .mts and .cts file is parsed with the TypeScript compiler API, so only real any type nodes count.
3. Fix
Each finding comes with a rule-based fix, a permalink and an edit link. Sign in to tick them off as you go.
What counts as any
- as any
A type assertion to any. It switches type checking off for that expression and everything derived from it.
- : any
A variable, parameter, property, return type or alias declared as any.
- Foo<any>
any used as a type argument: Promise<any>, Map<string, any>, useState<any>(), extends Base<any>.
- any[]
An array of any: any[], Array<any> or ReadonlyArray<any>.
- Record<K, any>
Record<K, any>: an object whose values are unchecked.
- implicit any
A parameter without a type in a declared function. noImplicitAny reports these as errors.
- other
any in a union, tuple, constraint, mapped or conditional type, keyof any, and similar places.
